NewTec NTBMS is an e-mobility reference design and complete safety support package for Battery Management Systems. It is constructed with a two boards approach a functional safety System-on-Module (Safety SoM) board and a Battery Management System (BMS) application board. The Safety SoM is based on NXP's S32K144 and KEA microcontrollers, and FS4503C safety power system. The BMS application board is based on NXP's MC33772B battery cell controller IC. The support package includes the necessary safety documentation and software for certification purposes. It is intended for device manufacturers with Lithium-ion batteries and suppliers of automotive or industrial applications with a high degree of reliability and safety in accordance with ISO 26262 targeting safety level up to ASIL C, or IEC61508 SIL2.

Automotive Battery Management System for 14V auxiliary battery

NTBMS is a Battery Management System for manufacturer ofautomotive Battery Systems, used as Starter Battery or AuxiliaryBattery with Li-Ion cells.
The NTBMS platform is designed for systems with high demandon reliability and safety in compliance with ISO 26262 ASIL C.NTBMS is a generic safety reference design for BMS developedin cooperation with NXP. The Battery Management System of Li-Ion battery includes cell monitoring, current sensing, passive cellbalancing, battery breaker control, computation unit for Batteryparameter extraction (such as State of Charge, State of Health)and communication to other ECU through CAN.
Battery management systems (BMS) are responsible to steerand control high-voltage batteries of Electric and Hybrid ElectricVehicles. This control unit is essential since several battery cellsare unified to a cluster to enhance battery capacity. It is a charge
regulator which should guarantee a stringent power supply ofthe engine.
BMS are essential to monitor state of charge, load distribution,temperature of each battery cell as well as of the whole batterypackage and development of the charging capacity.

NEWTEC-NTBMS: The Battery Management Reference Design with Functional Safety Features up to ASIL C
The application is a Battery Management System (BMS) evaluation platform for a14V Li-Ion battery (including cell monitoring, current sensing, passive cell balancing, battery breaker control, computation unit for Battery parameter extraction and communication to other ECU through CAN.
The NT BMS consists of a general purpose Safety System on Module (NT SafeSOMmicro) which is an ASILC ready microcontroller platform, including two microcontrollers which are supervising each other and an ASIL D qualified System Basis Chip providing all necessary voltages, CAN PHY and Watchdog functionality.
Second part is the NT BMS Baseboard where all battery management specific components are located. The three main components are:
·Battery Cell Controller
·Current measurement shunt resistor
·Breaker control circuit
This product is a reference design platform for the development of safety-critical battery management systems and applications. In no case must it be installed or used in vehicles or medical equipment. Military use of this product is not permitted.
This product may only be used in workshops and laboratories by trained specialist personnel. It may only be connected to the following components:
Battery Pack with up to 6 cells and 3 Temperature Sensors TBD Max Voltage, Max current
Power Supply, 14V, with sufficient power for Battery Pack charging
Battery Pack with 3 Temperature Sensors and up to 6 cells, max Voltage: 14V
Fuse with fitting characteristic for Battery Pack
Breaker Relay, recommended type: TE Connectivity V23130-C2021-A400 (max current 190A)
