高性能的产品往往功耗也很高。设计人员的目标就是在某个特定设计中找到性能和功耗之间的完美平衡。当高速度成为产品的必需特征时,就需要实现性能的优化,并解决一切其它问题以实现低功耗。在系统级、芯片级甚至是晶体管级设计中,有很多设计和工艺方法可以实现经济型性能,达到较长的电池寿命。

Multi-Gate Transistors
In a multi-gate device, the channel is surrounded by several gates on multiple surfaces, allowing more effective suppression of "off-state" leakage current. Multiple gates also allow enhanced current in the "on" state, also known as drive current. These advantages translate to lower power consumption and enhanced device performance. Non-planar devices are also more compact than conventional planar transistors, enabling higher transistor density which translates to smaller overall microelectronics.
