Abstract: The circuit topology and fundamentals of self-excited controllable saturated reactors are briefly introduced.Voltage harmonics on the ac windings of a single phase or three phase self-excited controllable saturated reactor are analyzed. It is concluded that the grid current contains only odd harmonics caused by ferro-magnetic non-linearization. The method to decrease the current THD（total harmonic distortion） in the three phase controllable saturated reactor is also discussed
