The mPD17201A and 17207 are 4-bit single-chip microcontrollers for infrared ray remote control transmitters, which integrate an LCD controller/driver, A/D converter, and a remote controller carrier generator on a single chip.These microcontrollers employ the 17K architecture, which uses general-purpose registers. They perform data
transfer and direct operations between data memory areas instead of indirect operations which hitherto have been performed through accumulators. Furthermore, all the instructions consist of 16 bits per word, assuring highly efficient programming.
The mPD17P207, a one-time PROM version to which data can be written only once, is also available. This PROM
version is helpful for program evaluation for the mPD17201A and 17207, and suitable for small-scale production.
