This application note describes how to size the different components involved in the design
of PFC applications, using AAI’s IPS101 PFC controller.
The design of the boost inductor for PFC applications at first seems complicated, mainly
because of the many choices that need to be made. By using some engineering “rules of
thumb” and restricting the solutions to those appropriate for AAI’s IPS101 chip, the
procedure can be simplified and completed quickly.
