Abstract :CMOS image sensor is the core of the digital imaging systems. It’s a new solid2state
pickup element . Which was invented later 30 years than that of CCD image sensor. The principle and significant advantages of CMOS image sensor are analyzed. Also the performance of a CMOS image sensor is compared with that of CCD image sensor in term of configuration ,inner characteristics ,tech2 niques and cost .
