Use the PADS User Settings Migration tool to extract your settings from one installation of PADS Logic, Layout, and Router and import them into another installation or version. You could migrate your settings to multiple machines in a corporate setting. You can also use startup options, known as command line switches, to control the initial configuration. Previous versions from which you can migrate user settings include: PADS 2007.x, PADS 9.0.x, and PADS 9.1. Creating the User Settings File Extract your user settings from a PADS version to create a user settings migration (.pds) file. Use the settings file to migrate your settings to any current installation. Procedure 1. Start menu 》 Programs 》 Mentor Graphics SDD 》 PADS 》 PADS Settings Migration. 2. In the PADS User Settings Migration dialog box, select Extract. 3. Click the browse button (。..) next to the PADS Version box. 4. In the Select Version dialog box, select the version from which you want to extract your settings and click Select. 5. Click Extract. 6. In the Save As dialog box, navigate to the location you want to place the file, name the file, and click Save. Result: The settings file, .pds, is created containing all of your settings. Use this file to migrate your settings to any other current PADS installation. 7. Optional: Click the Show report button to view the log file, usmlog.txt which contains any errors the migration tool encountered. 8. Migrate the settings extracted into the user settings migration file into another PADS installation
