Third order intermodulation distortion (IMD) measure- ments are complex and can be tedious when performed manually, even when sophisticated measuring instru- ments such as Agilent Technologies 8566B or 8568B Spectrum Analyzers are used. Performing such measure- ments automatically from a computer is far more efficient, since less operator time and effort is required. The down- loadablecapability of an 8566B or 8568B Spectrum Analyzer adds to this efficiency by making it possible to execute programs that are stored in the analyzer and get results, instead of data, from the analyzer.
