The new fourth-generation SRAM-based XC5200 FPGA
family from Xilinx is engineered to deliver the lowest costper-
gate of any FPGA family. The Xilinx XC4000 family of
FPGAs, on the other hand, offers a feature-rich architecture
ideal for PCI, DSP, telecommunications, and other higherperformance
applications. High-density XC4000 designs
not using the XC4000 dedicated features, such as on-chip
Select-RAMTM and dedicated wide edge decoders, can
easily achieve significant cost reductions by migrating to
the XC5200, which is 100% footprint compatible with the
XC4000.
