The main objective of this thesis is to provide a complete and cohesive analysis of the acquisition process clarifying different aspects that are often neglected in the current literature. In particular the thesis provides the statistical tools required for the characterization of the acquisition process. A general methodology is developed and applied to ² the acquisition of new composite GNSS signals, ² the acquisition in the presence of interference.
