An intentionally designed defect on the ground plane creates additional effective inductance and yggp
capacitance that results in microstriplines with higher impedance, band rejections, and slow-
wave characteristics. Due to these characteristics of the defects on the ground plane, the
resulting microstripstructure can be significantly reduced compared to the size of conventional
designs.
