Designers spend much time combating thermal effects incircuitry. The close relationship between temperature andelectronic devices is the source of more design headachesthan any other consideration.
In fact, instead of eliminating or compensating for thermalparasitics in circuits, it is possible to utilize them. In particular,applying thermal techniques to measurement andcontrol circuits allows novel solutions to diffi cult problems.
The most obvious example is temperature control. Familiaritywith thermal considerations in temperature controlloops permits less obvious, but very useful, thermallybasedcircuits to be built.
