Introduction: The Pb isotope system in feldspar is a powerful fingerprint, recording near-initial isotope ratios due to the very low ratios of U and Th to Pb in this mineral group, especially in K-feldspar. This same mineral group also has demonstrated applicability for 40Ar/39Ar geochronology. Procedures that allow multiple proxies to be obtained on the same samples have a great deal of value, and the combination of age and initial Pb isotope composition of feldspar has wide potential application in studies of volcanic stratigraphy as well as sedimentary provenance.
