CM3220 is an advanced ambient light sensor that uses the analog CMOS process and offers a convenient controlling method by digital PWM output. The duty cycle of the digital PWM output can be gradually modulated by the ambient light intensity; the modulated PWM signal simulates real human eye performance for the backlight system. It does not need loading of software development for backlight dimming control.
It incorporates a photodiode, amplifiers and analog circuits into a single chip. The best spectral sensitivity is used to closely capture real human eye responses. CM3220 has an excellent temperature compensation capability and the robust refresh rate setting does not need an external RC low pass filter. Shutdown mode is provided, which reduces power consumption to be less than 20 μA. CM3220’s operating voltage ranges from 2.5 V to 5.5 V and can detect low light power. The maximum detection light strength is 4 KLux.
