The MAX1617 is a precise digital thermometer thatreports the temperature of both a remote sensor and itsown package. The remote sensor is a diode-connectedtransistor—typically a low-cost, easily mounted 2N3904NPN type—that replaces conventional thermistors orthermocouples. Remote accuracy is ±3°C for multipletransistor manufacturers, with no calibration needed.The remote channel can also measure the die temperatureof other ICs, such as microprocessors, that containan on-chip, diode-connected transistor
