The MAX16990/MAX16992 are high-performance, currentmodePWM controllers with 4FA (typ) shutdown currentfor wide input voltage range boost/SEPIC converters. The4.5V to 36V input operating voltage range makes thesedevices ideal in automotive applications such as for frontend“preboost” or “SEPIC” power supplies and for the firstboost stage in high-power LED lighting applications. Aninternal low-dropout regulator (PVL regulator) with a 5Voutput voltage enables the MAX16990/MAX16992 to operatedirectly from an automotive battery input. The inputoperating range can be extended to as low as 2.5V whenthe converter output is applied to the SUP input.
